## Job Description: Windows Server Administrator **Job Title:** Windows Server Administrator **Department:** IT Infrastructure / Operations **Reports To:** IT Infrastructure Manager **Location:** [Insert Location/Remote/Hybrid] **Employment Type:** Full-Time ### Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Windows Server Administrator to join our IT infrastructure team. In this role, you will be responsible for the architecture, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of our Windows Server environment. You will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, security, and performance of our server ecosystem, supporting both on-premises and cloud-based infrastructure. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with a strong background in server administration, virtualization, and automation. --- ### Key Responsibilities **Server Management & Maintenance:** * Install, configure, and maintain Windows Server operating systems (2016/2019/2022). * Perform routine server patching, firmware updates, and system upgrades to ensure optimal performance and security compliance. * Monitor server health, resource utilization, and performance metrics, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks. * Manage Active Directory (AD), Group Policy Objects (GPO), DNS, DHCP, and DFS services. **Infrastructure & Cloud Operations:** * Manage and support virtualization environments (e.g., VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V). * Administer cloud infrastructure components within Azure or AWS (e.g., Azure AD/Entra ID, Azure VMs, Hybrid integration). * Manage backup and disaster recovery (DR) solutions, ensuring data integrity and conducting regular recovery testing. **Security & Compliance:** * Implement and maintain robust security policies, including access controls, hardening standards, and vulnerability management. * Work closely with the Security team to remediate vulnerabilities and respond to security incidents. * Ensure all infrastructure configurations adhere to internal audit requirements and industry best practices. **Automation & Troubleshooting:** * Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate repetitive administrative tasks and streamline deployment processes. * Provide Level 2/3 technical support for server-related incidents, performing root cause analysis (RCA) to prevent recurring issues. * Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams on complex projects, including server migrations and infrastructure expansions. --- ### Required Qualifications **Education & Experience:** * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience). * Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in Windows Server administration in an enterprise-level environment. * Proven experience managing Active Directory and Group Policy. **Technical Skills:** * Expert-level knowledge of Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 environments. * Strong proficiency in virtualization technologies (VMware or Hyper-V). * Advanced scripting skills (PowerShell is required; Python or Bash is a plus). * Experience with Cloud platforms (Azure preferred). * Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, VLANs, Firewalls, VPNs). * Experience with backup/recovery software (e.g., Veeam, Commvault, or Azure Backup). **Soft Skills:** * Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities. * Excellent written and verbal communication skills. * Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team. * Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines. * Willingness to participate in an after-hours on-call rotation. **Preferred Certifications (Optional):** * Microsoft Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate. * Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate. * CompTIA Server+ or VMware Certified Professional (VCP). --- *[Insert Company Boilerplate/Benefits Summary here]* **To Apply:** Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your experience with [specific technology relevant to your company, e.g., Azure migrations] to [Email Address/Application Portal Link].
